I am willing to accept instructions from claimants or defendants solicitors in matters pertaining to alleged general practitioner negligence.
Generally I can prepare reports within fourteen to twenty eight days of receipt of instructions but would always wish to receive an initial letter of enquiry so that I can ensure that the matters fits my area of expertise and there is no conflict of interest. Please do not send unsolicited bundles of records or requests for an opinion without a prior letter of enquiry.
I am not able to accept instructions involving practitioners in Hertfordshire or Bedfordshire, or any other cases where I might know parties and thus have a conflict of interest.
I am always happy to discuss matters by telephone — either on my home number or my mobile (which will take a message if I am not immediately available and allow me to telephone you back).
I regret that I will only accept instructions from solicitors, barristers, Coroners and insurance companies and am not able to act for individuals acting in person.
I am willing to prepare a brief overview report to allow assessment of the case at one and a half to two hours of time (£240 to £320 cost plus VAT). Such reports are not suitable to take matters to litigation but are intended as a screen to see if the case is viable.
My fees for written reports are based on the time actually spent on the case and an initial report is likely to cost around 3 to 4 hours of time at £160 per hour plus expenses and VAT.
This does of course include a reasonable amount of follow up questions and discussion.
Payment is requested within 90 days of invoice after which interest at 8% per annum may be applied to outstanding balances.
I am of course willing to attend Conferences with Counsel, and Trials in matters that I have been instructed in. Again my fee is based on the time spent on the case, for example:
To which must be added expenses and/or mileage at 50p per mile and VAT.
